How do I contain runners from the Rosa Ragusa?

I put a Ragusa Rose in the garden out front, but I have to constantly pull the runners up. It really messes up the mulch and other plants. Is there anyway, short of a metal inground wall, to stop the runners?

Rosa Rugosa can take over your yard like running bamboos. You can purchase thick plastics designed to line trenches around the offending plant to keep it contained in a confined area. Available at most garden centers. Or dig down a few inches around the perimeter and surround with used RR ties.
Reply:Nope. Shovel and pruners. Mulching doesn't stop them either, just makes them happy. You can pot up the rooted guys and give them to .......ah, people you don't mind making enemies.....or sell at farmer's market.
