Some help...PLEASE!!!?

My family just bought a new house and the previous owners had a great rose garden. I have never worked will roses before and am not really sure where to start. After they put the house on the market they let all the gardens go without any attention. That has made all the weeds take over, so all the roses grow extra tall and have started falling over. They are still beatiful and I am prepared for the work of caring for them- all though im not sure what all that intitals. Any tips and information would be great! Thanks so much!

Oh and these are not just like walmart roses- most are Jackson %26amp; Perkins and are all registered- whatever that means! Thanks again!!!

Some help...PLEASE!!!?
Simple answer - weed it out, cut them back and start fresh. I am a landscaper, but not a rose expert. Since you'll probably really be getting into your new roses, here is a link to a great forum with nice people willing to help. I go there from time to time to learn about plants I'm having trouble with.

Good luck with your project.
Reply:after you have weeded the garden you need to clip the roses from the bottom of the stems were they have started to grow from there you need to clip hard to explain but you will see were it needs to be done.like you were clipping them to bring in your home and to be put in a vase for a flower arrangement.your going to have to cut them back in the fall anyway so buy some good shears.
Reply:Congrats on getting such a bonus with your new house.

Don't see WalMart short - we used to buy registered roses for my mom there - but J%26amp;P has a good site for rose care. Enjoy.
Reply:first , weed out the mess, then cut them back, look for a stem with 5 leaves....cut just above it, and this will allow new groth from that spot.....then have the ph checked on soil and check for bugs.....stay on top of it and u will do fine.....
