When you play backyard cricket ...?

... do you play with any additional special rules (ie in the rose-garden is out, that kind of thing)?

When you play backyard cricket ...?
Yep sure do,because my 11 yr old smashes them we have made the rule that if it goes over the fence well it is 6 and out..BUT,the other side get an extra ball (they are the ones who have to get the ball back)...

And also if the ball hits any land mines(dog poo) then it is out..(and that person has to also clean the ball)...and for the littlies we are only alowed to bowl under arm....
Reply:We always did when we were kids. Brett %26amp; Shane Lee used the garage roller door for their wicket. Their father Bob, had to replace it 3 times before he got them off his hands! One time he fished 63 tennis balls out of the house guttering!(just thought i'd throw that in!) lol
Reply:Automatic keeper and slips the shed door, and over the fence is six and out, some trees are fielders as well depending on how many are playing.
Reply:Yeah, only one rule... NO LBW...

But your rule sounds funny... lmao

"If the ball goes to the rose-garden it's out..."

Haha... Nice one...
Reply:do you play with any additional special rules (ie in the rose-garden is out, that kind of thing,...

yes you take us to nostalgia~
Reply:No lbw and powerplays
Reply:yeah hit it over the fence u get it. no nocking.

hit it in the old angry ladies garage you get i and car on the full out.
Reply:We had "electric wickets" it meant you could get run out at either wicket

My backyard was next to a creek and if you could hit over the creek into the yard on the other side it was a "12er" and play on this was about a 60 metre slog and nearly impossible to do with a soft tennis ball never stopped us trying though
Reply:CAN'T GET OUT FIRST BALL- So smash it but not over the fence

AUTOMATIC WIKI-

ONE HAND ONE BOUNCE-

NO LBW-since not honet umpire is there

SIX AND OUT(then-fetch)-if u have a six but not over the fence area good for u. but if over the fence 6 and out

HIT AND RUN-
Reply:Auto wikki - snick it %26amp; you're out.

Tip 'n' run - gotta run, no matter where the ball goes

Six %26amp; out - over the fence %26amp; you're given 6 runs %26amp; are out.

No LBW - jeez, can't have that in backyard cricket!

Mandatory retirement - after scoring 50 runs

Can be caught from rebounds - off a car; rolling off the house roof; bouncing off a wall etc
Reply:Bahahahaaha!! I like ur rules.

yeah we always made up special rules as we went along. If you hit it behind you it is out cos th imaginery wicky would catch it. we had once no boundries and if you hit it over the roof you had to keep on running like a hundred times until someone finds th ball and brings it back. Then we always argued about 4s and 6s. Another time a 6 was 6 %26amp; out and if u suk at bowling u can only bowl once. there was also 3 chances for younger kids and girls and one hand one bounce rule.
Reply:reminded me of my childhood
Reply:As a kid I used bricks for wickets and a rubber ball.
Reply:Yeah

1. If the batsmen hits the ball, they have to run regardless of where it has gone (this usually means there is a lot of comical run outs)

2. No LBW's in the game

3. The batsmen cannot be given out first ball
