i am going to cameron highland soon!

the tea farm, rose garden...

but i knew nothing about cameron highland...haha...

Cameron Highlands from Kg Raja at one end to Ringlet at the other is nearly two hours' drive in distance. In between are the popular towns of Brinchang (the highest town) and Tanah Rata. Only a few minutes' drive separate the two and these are the popular destinations and where the majority of accommodations are. There's much, much more to CH than tea farms and rose gardens! However, because visitors bring in the cash, many 'attractions' are more commercial than natural. Still there are lots of old and new things to see and experience... cactus farms, strawberry fields, bee farms, waterfalls, aboriginal (orang asli) settlements, day %26amp; evening markets, colonial mansions, temples, golf, organic vegetables,...



Personally, I prefer to stay at the Rosa Pasedena Hotel in Brinchang as it is in the middle of the town within walking distance to the evening market, to surrounding scenic and touristic attractions. I also stay at Casa dela Rosa midway between the two towns and facing a golf course so I can have my exercises!

Reply:basically Cameron highland is a agriculture place in a highland. nice and quite place to relax with a cool temperature. the places to go is suggests by few people, but the place you should really visit is the BOH tea farm in the middle of Cameron highland in a town name Habu (5-10 min from Tanah rata).

Is a very old tea plantation with a very old tea processing factory. you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea over there while enjoy the cool weater and scenery.

Reply:Cameron Highlands is a highland region located about 20 km east of Ipoh and about 150km north of Kuala Lumpur in Pahang, Malaysia. At 5000 ft (1,500 m) above sea level it is the highest area on the mainland, and enjoys a cool climate, with temperatures no higher than 25°C and rarely falling below 6°C year round.



The Highlands were named after William Cameron, a British colonial government surveyor who discovered the plateau during a mapping expedition in 1885. The fame of Cameron Highlands then grew during the colonial era when British planters realised the potential of its fertile mountain slopes for growing tea, then a prized commodity. The Cameron Highlands are still home to many tea plantations, being Malaysia's largest tea-producing region. The area is also known as a major supplier of legumes and vegetables to both Malaysia and Singapore with its many farms, and is one of Malaysia's prime tourist destinations. There are many interesting places to visit here.





Key Attractions

Apart from the cool weather, key attractions in Cameron Highlands include a butterfly farm, strawberry farms, rose gardens, Chinese temple and vegetable farms. One of the popular tourist activities involves jungle walking and trekking amongst the refreshing cool forest air. Look out for the Golden chicken plant frequently sold at the roadsides.



Travelling to the Cameron Highlands takes up to one and a half hours via a winding road from Tapah by car. There is a newer and easier route up from Simpang Pulai (closer to Ipoh) which has a wider road and gentler curves.



There are nine towns in the Cameron Highlands. Among others, Brinchang, Kea Farm, Tringkap, Ringlet and Tanah Rata are better known to tourists.



Other towns such as Bertam Valley, Kuala Terla, Kampung Raja and Blue Valley are also well known by the tourist after the New Simpang Pulai route started to operate.



How to go there

From North-South Expressway, exit the expressway at Tapah and then proceed via route 59 straight along the way to the highlands.You are estimated to reach the first town of south End Ringlet in 1 hour 30 minutes.



Alternatively, you can exit the expressway at Simpang Pulai, Ipoh and proceed via a new route 145 to Cameron Highlands along the way to the top.You can expect to reach the first town at the northern end, Kampung Raja, in 1 hour.



You can also go there on an express bus from Penang or Kuala Lumpur

Reply:Cameron Highlands is relatively a nice and cooling place during the non-peak season.



Be prepared that there will not be any kind of extensive shopping spree. Almost everything we see there are nature...



My past experience tells me... DONT STAY AT EQUATORIAL HOTEL!!! I have wrote in my complain since December and no one has replied to me even this very moment...

One of the wonders of Malaysia, Cameron Highlands is the largest and most famous hill resort in the country. This highland paradise still retains much of the charm of an English village. Cameron Highlands is the smallest district in the state of Pahang which is located in the north-western corner of the state. Although it is in Pahang, its two main exits go to Tapah and Ipoh in the state of Perak.





It is made up of 3 main townships at different elevations. The first town from the south is Ringlet, followed by Tanah Rata, Brinchang, Kea Farm, Tringkap, Kuala Terla and Kampong Raja.







Ringlet

If you're driving via the old road from Tapah, this is the first town you will see when you reach Cameron Highlands. Located at an elevation of 1,200 metres above sea-level, Ringlet is one of the main agricultural hub for the highlands. Bertam Valley which is located about 5km away is one of the main flower and vegetable producers in Cameron highlands. You wont find any hotels here in Ringlet. The nearest hotel is the LakeHouse which is less then 10 minutes away. This is also the place to fill up on fuel if you're low on supply.







Tanah Rata

Further up is Tanah Rata which is about 20 minutes drive from Ringlet. This is the administrative capital of Cameron Highlands where most of the government offices are located. The general hospital and the district police station is also located here. If you're taking the express buses, this is where the journey would end. Most of the chalets and backpacker's accommodation is located here in and around Tanah Rata. Almost all the jungle trekking and waterfall trails starts from here.







Local tours and transfers out of Cameron Highlands can be obtained from the various tour operators in town. Money changers and internet cafe's can also be found here. Tanah Rata would be a nice place to enjoy the highlands, especially during the weekdays. It is much more quieter compared to Brinchang where most of the big hotels and restaurants are located.







Brinchang

Next is Brinchang which is about 10 minutes drive from Tanah Rata. This is where you will find most of the hotels and restaurants. The night market which is open every Saturday night features all kinds of vegetables, flowers, fruits and other products of the highlands. This place can get really crowded during the weekends and holiday season. Parking can be a headache during this time. Next to Ringlet, this is the other town with petrol stations. Remember to fill up before you leave Cameron Highlands.







Kea Farm, Tringkap, Kuala Terla %26amp; Kampung Raja

Beyond Brinchang, the road leads to all the way to Blue Valley. Most of the tourist spots are located around Kea Farm. This is where you will find the markets, vegetable farms, flower gardens and butterfly gardens. The road also branches out to the Sungai Palas tea plantation from here. If you continue on the main road heading north, it will be downhill from Kea Farm onwards. You will see vegetables farms all the way from here to Tringkap and beyond. Tringkap is a small farming community where you can find small stalls along the road selling local produce. There's also a few restaurants here where tourists have meals before leaving Cameron Highlands via the north. Fifteen minutes away is Kuala Terla, another small farming community. Kampung Raja is the last town on the map. Since the opening of the Simpang Pulai road, this town has become the gateway to the highlands from the north. From here, you can head out of the highlands to Ipoh or Gua Musang in Kelantan.



Weather %26amp; Climate

The weather in Cameron Highlands is temperate/cool all year round. The temperature here ranges from a minimum of 14o C to a maximum of 25o C. Rain is common throughout the year althought the monsoon season is from Nov-Feb. The dry season is from Feb-April.



The coldest time of the year is between December-February where the temperature can drop to 10o C at certain places.
