Which book for AP Psychology?
What specifically are you after, as far as book preferences and what you hope to get out of the book?

'Flowers for Algernon' is heartbreaking, 'I Never Promised You a Rose Garden' is illustrative, and 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' is highly entertaining. They're all fiction. I have also read 'Girl, Interrupted' (which is a memoir, so I don't know why I mentioned it in this paragraph) and 'Ordinary People' but would recommend any of the first three instead.

The only nonfiction one I have read out of the list is 'The Man Who Thought His Wife Was a Hat' (real title: 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.') It's by Oliver Sacks, who also wrote 'Awakenings,' and is about all sorts of ways the brain can go haywire--short little stories about specific patients. I found it fascinating and would recommend that one as well (before any of the fictional ones, actually.)

Edit to add: Per your description, I'll stick with my suggestions, as none of them are overly difficult or boring. :)
Reply:Read 'The Man Who Thought His Wife Was a Hat'- my AP Psychology teacher read this book and used it constantly for explaining different concepts. It really helps your understanding for when you get into some heavy material like sensation %26amp; perception.

Also, Ordinary People is a good all-around book. You could read it for psychology but unless you have already taken the class you might not understand the psychology behind the main character.
Reply:Many of these have been made into movies.

The one that I found most interesting is I'm Eve, about a woman with maybe 9 different personalities.

In Flowers for Algernon they are experimenting to see if they can make someone smarter. It was sad.

Cuckoo's nest was funny, but sad too.

I gues most of these are sad in the sense that there is something not quite right about the characters.

After you enjoy one of these, you will probably read more.
Reply:Considering you will probably have to do some sort of assignment on the book I would choose Flowers for Algernon. The story is interesting and easy to understand. It is also not too long.
Reply:I read One flew Over a Cuckoo's Nest, however if chosen from the list that you have, I would recommend you read A Child Called Noah or Girl Interrupted.
Reply:One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

It is trippy, and cool. Plus, if you get lost there are sparknotes and the movie
Reply:Flowers For Alegernon. I read it in school.
