ok the little blighters are all over my rose stems i know i can spray them with watered down washing up liquid but apart from ladybirds is there anything else likes to eat them if so i will maybe leave them be as i try my best to have a wildlife garden and i dont use any pesticides
Aphids to kill or not to kill that is the question?
Kill them!
with...........
Ladybirds and their larvae, lacewings, hoverfly larvae and parasitic wasps.
Reply:blue **** and goldcrests also eat them, but I know what you mean, they are a pain and ruin the roses. I have a wildlife garden too, so I tend to just blast them off with a hose rather than using any chemicals.
Reply:I take a piece of paper toweling and just smush the little troublemakers. They are soft bodied bugs and smush easily.
Using a jet of water to spray them away never worked for me.
Reply:Yes: lacewings eat them; as do other insects. They are born pregnant however, so it is imperative that you deal with them as soon as they appear. They are very destructive.
Reply:If all the offspring from a SINGLE pair of aphids survived at the end of one year they would weigh more than the earth itself!
Reply:kill without mercy, if you dont get ladybirds in your garden, you can get them by mail order
Reply:You mean Ladybugs. Let nature take its course.
