When you say 'skinny rose' do you mean 'dodder' as illustrated at this link

You need to pull it off the plant until there are no bits left and keep doing that until it doesn't come back. Using pesticides will kill the host plant as well.
Reply:A parasitic plant would have to be growing on another plant. I assume you mean as a vine possibly. If that is the case, cut the base of the vine where it enters the soil, since it is not truly parasitic but must have roots that anchor it. The exception might be something such as mistletoe which grows on limbs of trees, it could be cut off.
Reply:The only way to be sure is to dig out all the roots, and I mean ALL the roots.

Any left behind will grow another plant.

We had this problem on our allotment, and now 8 years on we are on top of our weed problem.
Reply:All you can really do is use pesterside. I hate using pesterside. I got japanese knotweed growing in my garden i tryed everything. three years of pesterside action got rid of it. i put cotton wool around my plants nearby and covered them with bin liners until i'd finished treating the knotweed. good luck hon. Horrible thought of something taking over your garden.

Help for melasma
