Garden question?

I have a rose bush and a rose of sharron bush which are right next to each other and i think they are trying to strangle each others root systems. what can i do about this? which one should be removed?

the rose of sharron is smaller than the rose bush at this point.

Garden question?
I'd move the Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacuse). Wait until fall, I'd cut back the branches as much as 50%, then dig the plant.

Once in the ground, make sure it's watered, and mulched (up to 3" of wood mulch over the root zone).

In the spring continue to water, and fertilize as normal. Give it some time, Rose of Sharon is often slow to start in the spring, normally, not to mention the stress of transplanting.

Good luck-

Reply:The Rose of Sharon is what we would remove. You can probably replant it elsewhere, they are very hardy plants. Our neighbor has one and we are constantly removing "volunteers" from our flower beds.
