How to remove a bush stump in close quarters?

I have a bush in a garden by my house.

The cement starts about two feet from the house, and right in the middle about four inches from the house and cement is this horrible dead bush.

I'm trying to dig it out, but there's not much room to work with, and I'm trying to get it done so that I can plant rose bushes for my dad, so I can't wait for a stump killer.

Any advice?

I would wet the soil with the garden hose with lots of water. Then let it sit for a day so your not playing in a swamp and dig again. When the soil is damp it's easier to dig. Plant's pull up easy that way too.
Reply:hire a local tree removal company. They have stump grinders that'll take care of it! You can call and explain the situation and the proximity of your home; they can at least give you a ballpark estimate and advise you if they are willing to do it.
Reply:I know its hard but keep diggin'
Reply:pull your truck (or car) up to it. wrap a tow strap around the bush connect to your tow hitch or the frame of you car and pull the sucker out. most bushes don't have deep roots. f you are worried about damage then pull a little bit take an ax and hack at the roots then pull a little bit hack a the roots until yo get it to pop free. leave the tension on the tow strap to keep tension on the bush.

Be careful but I have used this method with great success and not break by back.
